John K. Ellis, Chairman

A Portland native, John got his start in the industry working as a ship's agent. After seven years of first hand experience onboard the vessels, he spent a year in Tokyo, Japan working for Sanko Steamship. With the help of Jorgen Snitker, an experienced shipping associate, he established Pacific Rim Shipbrokers, Inc. in 1984 and never looked back.

As Chairman of Pacific Rim Shipbrokers, John's credo is simple yet effective - Do a good job for your clients, never leave room for disappointment and always give ultimate service at the best pricing possible. These are the principals that have created the standards of Pacific Rim Shipbrokers, Inc. today.

The recent shift to Chairman had John focusing on special projects for both Pacific Rim Shipbrokers and San Juan Navigation. Outside of the office, John stays very busy as an active member in the non-profit community.

Norman Gibbs, President

Norman began his shipping career in 1964 when he left school to take a job as an office junior for T. P. Rose Richards in downtown London. He later continued his shipping experience working as a Port of London ship's agents for four years. In 1968 he made the transition to the Chartering side of the business which led him to Germany and Denmark to further his shipping education.

In 1992 Norman and his family moved to the United States where shortly after he joined Pacific Rim Shipbrokers, Inc. In his free time, Norman enjoys spending time on the soccer field, the golf course and with his family.

Jennifer A. Montgomery, Chartering Broker

Jennifer has a Master of Logistics degree from Maine Maritime Academy and a bachelor's degree in International Business from Linfield College.

She has worked as an export coordinator for Mitsui Foods Inc., an export specialist for Hapag Lloyd, and a berthing coordinator in the Harbormaster’s office for the Port of Charleston, SC

Jennifer enjoys sailing, swimming and gardening on Bainbridge Island with her husband and two young daughters.
